Expert Answers about Land Rover Discovery II

  • Can the Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller be Reset
  • You can reset the controller by unplugging it for 15 minutes. However that should not be needed if you just need to adjust the output power. Just use the buttons on the left of the controller to select the output voltage you want. I have included a link to the installation instructions so you can see the procedure. Power output should be adjusted prior to using any of the boost levels.

  • How to Install a Brake Controller in a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II
  • What you can do is test the wiring of the connector you found with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to see if there is a stoplight switch circuit on the harness that you could use to install the Prodigy Brake controller part # 90885, but we do not have a plug in harness that will allow for brake controller installation on your vehicle. If not, then you will need to wire the controller up to the wiring of your brake switch like the install instructions for the # ETBC7 indicate. I would recommend...

  • Installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 on a 2004 Land Rover Discovery II
  • The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is an excellent choice for a brake controller and one of our favorites because of how easy it is to setup and use. To install it you will want to make these connections: White - Ground Red - COLD side of the stop light switch (only gets hot when brake is pressed) Black - Positive terminal on battery (using a Circuit Breaker # PTW2992 along that wiring) Blue - Run to the brake controller function on your 7-Way Since your 2004 Land Rover Discovery II already...

  • Installation Instructions for 4- and 7-Way Installation Kit # ETBC7 for a 2004 Land Rover Discovery
  • No need to look for, I linked it for you on the right! We do not have a video on a 2004 Land Rover Discovery but I have linked a video that should help. Since the # ETBC7 is a hardwire install the process for installation will be basically the same on most every vehicle.

  • Brake Controller Installation from Scratch on a 2001 Land Rover Discovery II
  • We do not currently carry a wiring harness for your 2001 Land Rover Discovery, so you will need to hard wire your vehicle. You will need three components. First, a brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our best selling and highest rated brake controllers. Next, you will need Brake Controller 7 and 4-Way Installation Kit - 10 Gauge, # ETBC7. Last, you will need a 4-Pole trailer connector like Upgraded Circuit Protected Taillight Converter Hardwire Kit with...

  • Are The Batteries That Come With the Titan Disc Brake Kit and BrakeRite Actuator Really Needed
  • The Titan Disc Brake Kit and BrakeRite Electric-Hydraulic Actuator part # T4843800 comes with two breakaway batteries which are just small batteries responsible for applying the brakes on the trailer in the event it becomes detached from the tow vehicle and are required by law in most states. Therefore, yes you do need to install the breakaway batteries that come with the kit. Please note, the 6 volt batteries you have on the trailer serve an entirely different purpose and cannot be used...

  • Can Weight Distribution Be Used On a 2003 Land Rover Discovery II with Curt Hitch
  • The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13455 is a great option for a 2003 Land Rover Discovery II. It is rated for weight distribution however the vehicle could not be and if that's the case then it should not be used. The trailer hitches are tested separately of the vehicle which is why it may be rated for this but not the vehicle.

  • Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller on 2000 Range Rover HSE
  • If the trailer you're wanting to pull has electric brakes, and you want them to operate, you will need a brake controller. Having a dealer-installed 7-way won't eliminate the need for a brake controller. It sounds as if you've got a good handle on what you need. I'm not sure what '4 wire adapter kit ' you're speaking of consists of, but if it provides a 4-pole trailer connector for your Range Rover, the only other parts you'd need are the # ETBC7 brake controller installation kit you referenced...

  • 7-Way/4-Pole Trailer Connector Installation-2004 Land Rover Discovery
  • For a 4-pole trailer connector, you'll need part # 119178KIT. The wiring harness/converter would wire directly into the circuits feeding your taillight assemblies. I've linked you to a video showing the wiring harness being installed on a 2006 Honda Element. The wire colors on your Land Rover would be different, but the testing to determine which wire carries which circuit and the procedure would be very similar for your vehicle. If you needed a 7-way trailer connector and your trailer...
